Hwee Sian's Story
Having been part of an organization that dedicates time into corporate social responsibility (CSR), Kang Hwee Sian has her fair share of experience working with non-profit organisations that focuses on the elderly and special needs space.
Although the CSR activities she has been involved in do not involve running, but Hwee SIan saw that Relay Majulah will provide her with opportunities to learn more about fellow Singaporeans with special needs and how we can contribute to their well-being. Above it all, seeing the smiles on their faces motivated her to keep going.
Sometime last year, one of her friends recommended her to accompany a group of special needs kids on a hike in MacRitchie Reservoir. This opportunity gave her the chance to walk with the children with autism, to understand them and learn how to communicate with them. The experience had a huge impact on her as she is determined to set aside time to support these special needs kids on an ongoing basis.
Through Relay Majulah, she hopes to create awareness for people around her and communities where we belong, about this fundraising initiative for the 67 supported charities.
