Terence Quek is no stranger to challenging himself. The CEO of Emergenetics APAC, wrote this purpose statement for himself when he was 20: "To make a positive impact". 20 years down the road, he still lives by that purpose statement through active volunteerism in various capacities (SWCDC, SECDC, SAFRA, SMU, Lions Club of Singapore etc) and by championing for causes he believes in, such as education and economy empowerment through Project Happy Feet.
2 years ago, Terence lost his mother to cancer and along with it an inspirational role model in his life that has helped shaped him into becoming the person he is today. He reminisces: “In the last 3 years of her life, while she was suffering from cancer, I saw how she kept up a brave front for her loved ones and kept fighting to the end.”
Terence will be challenging himself to conquer 10km within an hour in honour of his mum and to raise awareness for cancer and the resources available to caregivers. He hopes to inspire others to do their part in challenging the status quo to bring relief and comfort to cancer-stricken individuals and their families.
